HOW YOU CAN HELP US!
Become a House Sponsor / Building Partner!
Our generous sponsors provide financial and volunteer support of our effort to eliminate substandard housing. This endeavor reinforces and reflects community pride, teamwork, commitment and involvement. Moreover, your name on the house and all the publicity received will reflect your commitment to the community. For more information, please visit our "Become a Sponsor" page or contact us at email@example.com.
We need donated lots to build more homes! Habitat for Humanity depends on land that is donated. Eliminating the cost to purchase land dramatically reduces the cost of affordable homes we can build for qualified homeowners. The legacy will live on through the families who live in the houses built on that land. All land donations are tax deductible and some are eligible for tax credits. If you have land in Hampton, James City County, Newport News, Poquoson or York County and would like to reduce your tax obligation, please donate it to Habitat PGW.
Donate your vehicle to Cars for Homes™ and help build houses!
Your vehicle donation can help a family build a home, and the hope of a better life! Car, truck, boat and RV donations help Habitat for Humanity build houses in partnership with families in need of decent, affordable shelter. Donate a car, truck, boat, RV or other vehicle to Cars for Homes™, Habitat for Humanity’s car donation program, by calling 1-877-277-4344 toll free or online at http://www.cardonationwizard.com/charities/habitat-for-humanity/program.jsp.
Buy a Share in the Future of Your Community!
A 1,200 square foot Habitat home costs $75,000 to build, which breaks down to $62.50 per square foot. Therefore, the cost of one SHARE or one square foot is $62.50. These SHARE certificates make great holiday, graduation and birthday gifts that can be personalized with the recipient’s name. The personalized certificate is suitable for framing and will state the number of shares purchased and the amount of each share, as well as the recipient’s name. The home that you participate in “building” will last for many years and will continue to grow in value. Please print out and mail in the SHARE certificate form to place your purchase!
Donate through United Way!
Every contribution made to the United Way Combined Federal Campaign (CFC #34260) and the United Way Combined Virginia Campaign (CVC #3068) goes directly to Habitat's homeownership fund which provides homes in Hampton, James City County, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg and York County. Our general United Way Virginia Peninsula code is #6128.
You can make a secure online donation here.
See if Your Employer Offers Matching Gifts!
Thousands of companies have Matching Gift programs which double, or even triple individual, tax-deductible contributions made by their employees. Ask your personnel office about your company's Matching Gift program.
Visit the Habitat ReStore!
Donate materials to the Habitat ReStore - our building materials warehouse store. We depend on both business and individual contributions of new or gently used building materials that we sell at 50-90% off retail value, and 100% of the profits go towards building new homes. Please visit our Habitat ReStore page for more information.
Provide an In-Kind Donation!
In-kind donations may be gifts of professional services such as an electrician, plumber, roofer, etc. In-kind donations may also include stocks, bonds and other items that can be converted into cash and/or generate income.
Volunteer Your Time!
Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg could not have completed any of its homes without the hard work and dedication of volunteers. Our ReStore and business office also rely on committed volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in ANY capacity, please visit the "Volunteer Info" section of our website.
Tax credits are available through the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP)
NAP uses state income tax credits as incentives for businesses to invest directly in certain approved community NAP projects, such as Habitat, designed to benefit impoverished people, in order to define local problems, design local solutions, and use available resources to improve the community environment. Participating businesses receive credits at 65% of the value of their contribution (in addition to allowable federal and state charitable contribution deductions) that can be applied against their state income tax obligation.
As a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, all donations to Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.
