This house was built in partnership with the Niyonzima family. The dedication ceremony will take place in the 2000 block of Madison Avenue. Sam and Media Niyonzima were born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and later left their country due to the upscale of violence that was occurring. Both Media and Sam then moved and grew up in Uganda refugee settlement. While in the DR, Sam worked for Action Africa as a nutritionist assistant. Media diligently took care of her seven siblings through farming and helping to provide for her family. In 2016, the Niyonzima family moved to the United States. Media and Sam have three wonderful children, and together they love cooking together and traveling on the weekends! And they are so thankful to finally be able to afford their very own home! We hope you will join us for this ceremony! Event will last no more than 30 minutes and will be held rain or shine! Please join us as we celebrate the dedication of the Shipyard's 17th AND Habitat's 200th house!!!
This house was built in partnership with the McCallum family. The dedication ceremony will take place in the 2000 block of Madison Avenue. Crystal McCallum was born in Newport News, VA but grew up in Hampton, VA where she currently works as an employee of Hampton City Public Schools. She is the mother of three beautiful children! The McCallum family with all of their compassion and love are very excited to have their own home right here in the near future! We hope you will join us for this ceremony! Please join us as we celebrate the dedication of the Shipyard's 16th house, this one built in partnership with the Kabwe family.
Immediately following that, we hope you will stay as we break ground on the Shipyard's 17th house, which also will be Habitat's 200th home! This house will be built in partnership with the McCallum family. The dedication ceremony will take place in the 2000 block of Marshall Avenue, and the groundbreaking ceremony will be just around the corner at the 2000 block of Madison Avenue. The Kabwe family home was built in memory of Ron Nelson (longtime Habitat construction supervisor) and in memory of Everett Jordan (longtime Shipyard employee). These visionary men met at the start of the Shipyard-Habitat partnership over 15 years ago and, as a result, a friendship was born. Ron worked tirelessly with Habitat since 1999, building a majority of the homes we sell in partnership with low- and moderate-income families. Everett spent 44 years with the Shipyard in a variety of jobs, ultimately retiring as the director of the Apprentice School. We hope you will join us for this ceremony! Our good friends and partners at the CNU Habitat chapter have organized a fundraiser to support Habitat for Humanity!
