Please join us as we celebrate the dedication of the Shipyard's 16th house, this one built in partnership with the Kabwe family.
Immediately following that, we hope you will stay as we break ground on the Shipyard's 17th house, which also will be Habitat's 200th home! This house will be built in partnership with the McCallum family. The dedication ceremony will take place in the 2000 block of Marshall Avenue, and the groundbreaking ceremony will be just around the corner at the 2000 block of Madison Avenue. The Kabwe family home was built in memory of Ron Nelson (longtime Habitat construction supervisor) and in memory of Everett Jordan (longtime Shipyard employee). These visionary men met at the start of the Shipyard-Habitat partnership over 15 years ago and, as a result, a friendship was born. Ron worked tirelessly with Habitat since 1999, building a majority of the homes we sell in partnership with low- and moderate-income families. Everett spent 44 years with the Shipyard in a variety of jobs, ultimately retiring as the director of the Apprentice School. We hope you will join us for this ceremony!
