With so many great donations coming in, the ReStores really need volunteers!  Volunteers in the ReStore handle a variety of duties, including customer service, furniture restoration, appliance & equipment repair and donation inventory & pricing. Volunteers need to be 16 and older and the experience can be great for seniors and their friends.
Volunteers are always welcome! Please note you MUST take an orientation at each ReStore you volunteer with.

Grab Your Group and Volunteer with Us

Groups play a huge part in our mission, because it takes a big community to build a community. If you are the point of contact for a group and you would like to sign up to volunteer, use our Volunteer Group Request Form to to schedule, especially if the date preferred is not listed on the Volunteer Hub calendar.

We normally schedule construction and repair dates no more than 30 days in advance.

If the date your group wants to volunteer is on the calendar and has space, visit the volunteer calendar to register your group by selecting the number in the group while scheduling. Don’t forget to count yourself! You are also able to input emails on that screen so group members can receive the confirmation email and the reminder email along with you.

Try to limit volunteering to no more than one Saturday a month to allow other groups to participate. Please call 757-913-5654 if you need more information on volunteering as a group.

What can volunteers do at the ReStore?

Furniture Restoration Specialist:

Calling all DIY lovers! As our Furniture Restoration Specialist, your creations will be featured in our store for purchase and display. We need individuals skilled in furniture restoration to add to our store’s collection. Tools, materials, and workspace will be provided; however, we encourage bringing tools from home to add your own personal touch. On-site training for this once a week opportunity needed.

Cashier Extraordinaire:

As a cashier, you are the first face ReStore customers see. We are looking for cheery individuals to brighten the day of our patrons. Register experience is not required. On-site training for this minimum once a week opportunity needed.

Sales Floor Volunteer:

We need you to keep our store running smoothly! As a sales floor volunteer, you will work closely with our staff and volunteers to manage the sales floor. Take pride in your local ReStore by ensuring that our aisles stay clear, clean, and organized!

Donations Dock Volunteer:

With so many great donations coming in everyday, we need volunteers to assist staff in unloading trucks, pricing donations, and placing them on the sales floor. No experience necessary! On-site training for this minimum once a week opportunity needed.

Warehouse Inventory Volunteer:

Help our warehouse team prepare and stage inventory for the ReStores. Tasks include sorting, pricing, and stacking products to prep for selling. The warehouse is a great setting for a group or assembly line.

DONATE

Want to invest in the community?

DONATE NOW

We help as many families as we can, but the lack of decent and affordable housing remains a critical problem in our area. By donating, you will provide upfront funding for building materials and services that makes interest-free loans to Habitat partner families possible. Habitat partner families help to build their own homes - alongside volunteers - and pay an affordable mortgage. Your monetary donations enable us to continue building strength, stability and independence for future local families.
